We've had quite a bit of fun celebrating Halloween. Here is a video from the Eisen's party.

Halloween Party

Some friends of ours, the Eisens pulled off an amazing Halloween party. Gobs of kids, incredible decorations, lots of games, amazing quantities of food -- and good times had by all. There was even a big toilet paper fight after the mummy wrapping contest.

Reeve went as a pirate -- and looked incredible.

Gabriella, compliments of her cousin Laura, had a beautiful 50s dress and greatly enjoyed dressing up -- she even got some fancy red shoes from our neighbor, Nina, and really enjoyed dressing up.

Rania. . .well, Rania is definitely two. This picture tells a lot of how Rania is like from time to time! While she can be incredibly adorable, but when she doesn't get her nap or is a bit too tired, or just doesn't get her way, she can pull off the two year old act with the best of them!

Juvy's Birthday

Juvy has had a rough few weeks. She had to return to the Philippines suddenly due to the sudden and tragic death of her father. Her family has certainly been in our prayers.

While she was gone, we missed her birthday, so celebrated about a week late.

Instead of adding a picture, Reeve said, "Why don't you add a movie?"

So here is our production. Thanks to Reeve for the great idea. And thanks to Juvy for everything she does!

Saving of the Allowance

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2008

Reeve has diligently been saving his allowance (6 ringitt a week!)* He decided that he really wanted a nerf gun set, so we said that if he saved, we would add 50% to the purchase of an item that he really wanted.

So on Sunday, after church, we made our way to California Pizza Kitchen (for lunch) and then to Toys 'R US in KLCC where Reeve made his purchase. Now the whole family has been enjoying nerf gun fights. A few extra glasses and replacements of lost "darts" may be necessary supplements.

Nothing like a good shootout to cause unease with the Quaker grandparents, right?

*6 RM is about $1.75 though it may be a whole lot less by the time you read this with the decline of currency values in emerging markets due to a potential global downturn.

Tech TGIF

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2008

On Friday evening, we had a fun tech gathering at our house. Despite the bad traffic on a Friday night, quite a few were able to attend.

Zaini (middle, pictured with Charlotte & Brian above) brought some amazing satay.

It was also wonderful to chit-chat outside of school, hearing stories of families and non-tech related issues.

It was great of Charlotte to plan the event, and when everyone chipped in, it was great fun. Next time, we might even get higher turnout, as several had competing events or family obligations.

Swimming @ the parents' pad

One of the great benefits of Doug's parents' new place is that they still have a pool. So frequently, on weekends, we spend time there and get to enjoy the pool.

This is the view of our kids swimming from the balcony of Doug's parents' place.

Trip to Genting

Yesterday (Saturday), we decided to load the kids in the car and visit the outdoor theme park that is less than an hour outside of KL, at Genting Highlands. We knew there would be quite a bit of holiday traffic, but the kids still had a great time.

We climbed, and climbed, and climbed up the steep road that ended at the huge resort area that is home to Malaysia's largest casino -- and a fun theme park for kids.

Rania absolutely loved the rides, and we managed to visit Dinosaurland, ride the bumper cars, go on the Crazy Space Ride, and ride the buckin' bronco before a bit of rain and some tired kids made us head for home.

The Inskeep's New Pad

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2008

Over our extended holiday for Hari Raya (the end of Ramadan), we were staying put and laying low. Some friends of ours spent the holiday moving to a new condo.

We had to check out their luxurious pool -- which makes it seem like they are living at a resort. Not only does Rex have the coolest collection of Star Wars figures EVER, but jumping off the rocks in his new pool is also pretty darn cool.

Gabi as American Idol

Do you think this girl has a future in performing?

Hari Raya Celebration

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2008

We had the great privilege of being invited to our neighbors to celebrate the end of Ramadan. "Auntie" had prepared a huge feast.

They had many guests stop by to wish the family well, and there was plenty of fun to be had by the kids. Lots of games, toys, bubble making and all sorts of fun events. Reeve played tennis with the Wii and was so confident of his skills, he announced, "I'm a good tennis player."

Hmmm. . .wonder how he would do with a real racket!

Then there were fireworks to end the evening. It was a wonderful evening to start our holiday weekend.

Rania's Linguistic Skills

It is amazing to see how much Rania's vocabulary has increased.

Just a few months ago, she only had a handful of words and referred to herself as "baby."

Here are some of her current favorite phrases.
