Movember

Part of an annual tradition at ISKL, I had the chance to grow my 'mo.  Not quite so great - and lots more gray than in past years.  This year has special importance, as dad was diagnosed with prostrate cancer a few months ago.

Many prayers for dad; also remembering the importance of men's health issues.

Putting Up The Tree

It is always a highlight when we get closer to Christmas season, and it is a chance to put up the tree.  A fun time - and great memories from past Christmas ornaments. We have the chance to also remember ornaments we've collected from past years.  Being in Paris for Christmas was most certainly a year to remember!

The Love Project Videos

Not sure that I have the embed codes, but here are both acts of the amazing Middle School Play.

Act I Friday Night: Panther Tales

Act II Friday Night: Panther Tales

The Love Project

Gabi had her middle school stage debut, with a role in "The Love Project," an amazing original play written just for our middle school students by Tina Casey.   Gabi had several roles, including strutting the catwalk, and being part of the strange dance between boys and girls at the MS Party.  What an amazing experience to be a part of the cast and work together for such a great production.

Care Club

Rania has greatly enjoyed the options for after school activities.  Care Club is a fun chance for the kids to be involved with animals, while also looking to do random acts of kindness and make things better one act at a time. (And so fun to have Ms. Ely again!)

Bond (& Pavilion)

For the evening, we had the chance to watch the new James Bond movie, as well as seeing the new (and extravagant as always) Christmas decorations at the Pavilion.

International Fest

One of the highlights of the school calendar is International Fest, with some great dancing, fun music and great experiences.  One of Tracy's students was a key photographer for the event.  It was interesting, having just returned from Japan to see the Japanese booth at ISKL!  What an amazing school community.  So proud.

Fun!

Last Evening in Tokyo

During the last evening in Tokyo, we were able to get out and go for a walk to Roppongi Hills, see a bit of Tokyo, enjoy the cool weather (and no haze!).  How incredible to be working with such a great team, and how fortunate to have two Japanese speakers who know the culture and the country so well.  That sure helped!

Great Food & Great Team

As the accreditation trip wrapped up, it was great to reflect on working with an impressive team.  We were efficient, professional, had fun together and ended up with some time to get out to some nice restaurants in Tokyo.  Fun!

Emergency Drills

Wow!  Lots for my school to learn as part of the emergency drills which were run so efficiently.  Impressive stuff, with clear preparation for emergencies - which, sadly, have happened over the years as a result of strong earthquakes.  Well prepared and impressive.

Accreditation

It is a lot of coming and going, as we get to each and every teacher, see all of the classrooms, and then come back and share our evidence with each other as we draft and submit reports.  Professionally challenging and incredibly rewarding.  (And what a fun team!)

Nishimachi

On a rainy day, we had some more rich conversations and warm welcomes from the teachers at Nishimachi.

It is certainly fun talking about big educational ideas.

International Soccer: Rainout

Well, Reeve's soccer tournament ended up a bit of a wash, with the finals competitions getting completely stormed out.  Unfortunately they were unable to finish, but were playing well, and had lots of fun.  From the little bit of game time they did get in, you can see the field conditions and the heavy rain!

What fun. . .soccer in the rain!

A Day in Tokyo

En route to an accreditation trip at Nishimachi International School, I got to spend most of a day with Bethany, a good friend from University whom I had not seen in ages.  What a treat to be walking around in the cool, comfortable November weather.   Having never been to Tokyo, it was amazing to have a guide and have a chance to see some parks, be outside, as well as meet Bethany's family.

International Soccer Tournament: Day 1

Reeve, for the third straight year, had the chance to go to Phuket, where he competed in the international soccer tournament against a host of other schools.  His team did quite well on day one.  Good reports and great initial games.  Wow, they are looking good, too!
